I’m on the train to the city coming from Russell Sage college in Albany, NY. The talk and the workshop were amazing. The faculty and the students were wonderful. They were so energetic and engaged and I feel energized to expand my practice.
On Monday, I am installing my pieces for Repetition as Prayer at Red Emma’s.
I’m nearing the end of these three projects and I am feeling less overwhelmed. My mind is starting to feel at rest and I can feel myself asking the question of the anth, what’s next?
I’m learning in my practice that next doesn’t have to mean new. How to resist the siren song of greenfield projects.
I’m learning in my practice the value of revisiting and rereading. The joy of rewalking paths that have already been laid.
One of the students asked me that question during Q&A.
What’s next is more of what has already been. Revisiting graffiti, revisiting gradients, revisiting writing.
Revisiting, revisiting, revisiting.
